Software Engineer for AI Infrastructure

You will be part of an exciting mission to change the way how we do business and to help science progress through the power of data.

Through efficient integration of novel AI solutions in our product’s workflows, we enable our customers to accelerate their exiting work with our instruments across a variety of domains.

You will be contributing by integrating available infrastructure components in our software and developing new components where needed. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and extending the software that enables the integration of AI model serving and training pipelines.

In this role you will:

• Provide software building blocks for an AI ecosystem (both make and buy) for on-premise and air-gapped AI solutions at our customers
• Work on high quality backend software using best practices in software design and development
• Focus on improving quality and optimizing our platform, as well as the implementation of new features and improvements
• Establish technical guidance and education to our software engineers and data scientists
• Assist research and product development teams in using our platform
• Analyze existing AI integration solutions and workflows, propose, and implement changes
• Work in a distributed team, building strong relationships with partners across the organization

With more than 65 locations around the world, we provide an end-to-end drug development offering that includes API, biologics, viral vector services, cGMP plasmids, early and late phase development, clinical trial services, logistics services, and commercial manufacturing.

This position is available in the Data and Artificial Intelligence team that is part of R&D with colleagues across the USA, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and France. This team aims to solve customer challenges by providing an AI ecosystem and by supporting our various R&D teams to integrate AI.

From your role, you will be contributing to maintaining, extending and innovating this infrastructure to allow efficient integration of AI solutions in our products.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a multi-cultural, collaborative high-tech data science and software environment.

Besides that, you have:

• Education (BSc or MSc degree) in software engineering or related field
• Multiple years of hands-on experience in software development (preferably Python and C++)
• Experience in software design patterns and architecture best practices
• Affinity with microservices (K8s, Docker)
• Quality-oriented mindset, experience with test automation is preferred
• Knowledge and experience in Dev-Ops and affinity with ML-Ops best practices
• Proactive demeanor, strong communicator, influencing skills, agile mentality
• Willingness to travel, up to 10%
